The Séance by John Harwood (2008)

I have no words to describe the beauty of this novel.  This book gives you Romance, Mystery, Suspense and Murder. I couldn't put it down and was hooked from the beginning to the end.  The story is set in Victorian era England and first published in 2008.

It's a story about Constance Langton, a girl who lost her younger sister as a child and a mother who lost her sanity with the loss of her daughter. She felt emotionally abandoned despite having both of her parents and her father left them to focus on his work, away from town, leaving Constance to take care of her mother.

Constance tries to comfort her grieving mother by taking her to a séance. However by doing that her mother spirals into more distress and ends her life.

After both her parents passed away, Constance go to live with her Uncle. While there she gets a visitor who brings her the news of a mansion with a notorious past that has come into her inheritance from a distant relative. Little did Constance know, She was about to unravel something she never thought in her wildest dreams.

The is a quintessential Victorian Gothic Horror novel. I love how the mystery unfolds without getting me bored. The character are well written and has a spooky and supernatural atmosphere to it which I personally love.

My Rating: ★★★★☆
