I don't like it when i read a classic piece of literature and don't understand why it's regarded as such. I really wanted to like this because I'm such a huge fan of all things ghastly and Gothic. I mean, with this novel i was confused the whole time. Did i miss a page? There are just so many questions!
Like, What happened to Miles and Flora's parents. They are not mentioned anywhere in the novel.
Why does the kids' uncle live separately and doesn't want to come see them? Its mentioned in the novel that their uncle doesn't like to be disturbed. So like he has left his niece and nephew with caretakers and a Governess?
Throughout the novel nothing much exciting except the governess insists she's seen the ghost of the previous governess and the valet. And she's sure the kids sees it too but they deny it. Is she crazy? Is she delusional? Or the ghosts really there? Guess we'll never know. And i don't think I'll go back on this novel to find out either.
