I picked up this little yet celebrated short story by Edgar Allen Poe and i was not prepared at all.
The story is about a man, his wife and pet cat, Pluto. At first the unnamed narrator is particularly fond of his pet however their mutual friendship lasts for several years, until the narrator becomes an alcoholic.
It is one of Poe's darkest tales focusing on brutality towards animals, murder, and crime.
